The interdependence of micro and macro is also an important theme. To see and understand a work you have to focus on the details, but the details cannot exist without the whole picture. Without all the details a picture cannot exist: the details tell their own story and complete the work.
 
Her work explores the process of creation and combines classic colour theory with new ideas for making paint. For example: what happens when you use milk to produce a colour? The manner in which paint is applied: what lies beneath the top, visible layer is an important part of the story of creation. As she says: "I work with many layers of paint, as many as 20. Underneath these layers are letters, quotations or other drawings. It through all these layers that the composition achieves its depth and intensity."
